Laser Rejuvenation

We use IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) laser treatment, also referred to as a photo-rejuvenation or photo-facial treatment. It is a non-cosmetic skin procedure commonly used to correct skin irregularities and reverse the signs of aging. It requires virtually no downtime and generally requires about three treatments for the best effect.

It works by using an intense flash of light which passes through the top layer of skin (epidermis) penetrating to the deeper layer to reach the blood vessels, pigment cells and collagen. Because the epidermis is unharmed, there is usually not the redness and peeling associated with traditional laser skin resurfacing.

IPL can stimulate new collagen to form in the skin, thus reducing fine lines, pore size and acne scars and increasing skin elasticity. Intense pulsed light also eliminates flushing and redness of the face associated with rosacea, as well as reducing brown spots, erasing broken capillaries and smoothing roughly textured skin.

Any skin can be treated with IPL and the actual procedure time depended on the area treated. Treatment of the face, neck and chest may take as long as 45 minutes.

IPL treatment of freckles or brown spots usually requires no downtime and you can return to your daily activities immediately. Over a 2-3 week period, any brown spots will darken, then flake off.

IPL treatments of abnormal redness or vessels usually have a minimal downtime, and although some patients experience some purple discoloration as the intense pulsed light ruptures the vessels, camouflage makeup can be used.

It is especially important to wear a good sunscreen daily to prevent sun exposure and recurrence of the dark spots and fine lines.
